Level 1 Systems Reader
Turn dialogue into an actionable system.
Environmental challenges can feel too broad to act on. Following a structured film dialogue, our Level 1 Systems Literacy Reader helps participants define the system surrounding the change they want to make, and understand what they need to investigate next.
No systems expert or specialized environmental knowledge is required.
The Level 1 Report
Upload the transcript from your structured film dialogue and receive a Level 1 report that helps answer five practical questions:
-
Define the specific, actionable system emerging from the conversation.
-
Identify the people, organizations, institutions, and other actors participants see as influencing it.
-
Surface information gaps, assumptions, unclear responsibilities, and missing perspectives.
-
Understand whether proposed actions address the source of the environmental challenge or respond to its consequences.
-
Identify the immediate coordination question that should be investigated before meaningful action can move forward.
A Starting Point for Systems Literacy
The Level 1 Reader doesn't prescribe a solution or tell participants what action to take.
It creates the foundation for better inquiry: a clearer understanding of the system, who shapes it, what the group still needs to learn, and where deeper investigation should begin.
